HAITI EMERGENCY
- The United Methodist Response -

“We are working with our partners on the ground to provide immediate relief to the people in Haiti,” says Melissa Crutchfield, United Methodist Committee on Relief’s (UMCOR) international disaster response executive. “UMCOR is coordinating with the Methodist Church of Haiti to send a team to assist with relief efforts.”
In the short term, UMCOR is responding to basic needs for food and shelter. In the weeks, months and years ahead, UMCOR will stay to provide for those who are homeless, injured, and bereft.
UMCOR is working with partners, Action by Churches Together, Church World Service, Global Medic and the Methodist Church to respond effectively to the people of Haiti after this devastating earthquake shook the nation’s capital, Port-au-Prince on Jan. 12. Haiti is often referred to as "the poorest of the poor." 100 percent of your donation will go to help the people of Haiti.

HOW TO HELP!

PRAY!
Stay up to date with the information through United Methodist Communications which continues to provide news coverage of the situation in Haiti, including how the church is responding, at www.umc.org/haiti.
Volunteers and Health Kits - According to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), there will be a great need for volunteers to help rebuild once the initial crisis is past, but it is not safe or possible for volunteers to go to Haiti at the present. However, UMCOR’s two relief supply warehouses are asking United Methodists to provide health kits that will be sent to Haiti.
Donations – REMEMBER when donating through UMCOR: 100% of your donations will go to relief in Haiti! There are several ways to give through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
